Kids/Athletics
sport year-round, many young athletes are developing overuse injuries. In fact,
overuse is responsible for about half of the sports injuries that happen to middle
school and high school students. Overuse injuries usually occur over time with
prolonged, repeated motion or impact ranging from chronic muscle strains and
tendonitis to tiny cracks in the bone called stress fractures.
At Evolution, we partner with Physical Therapists and Chiropractors to offer
preventative alternatives for children just getting started in sports, as well as
seasoned young athletes.
Our Personal Trainers offer a Functional Movement Screen® which is
recommended to ascertain potential injury risk. When a child's movement patterns
are limited or altered, these patterns often go undetected in conventional training.
While this may not be necessary for all children or athletes, it may be a good
investment in those who have the greatest risk of injury. The screening and
subsequent “prescription” is done on an individual basis.
