Certifications & Continuing Education/Pilates
Comprehensive Mat
Prior to enrollment in the Comprehensive Mat workshop you must pass a core
anatomy exam or take the Core Muscle Anatomy workshop
The Kane School Comprehensive Mat Certification is an advanced Pilates mat
certification program that is singular in attention to assessment, biomechanics
and the application of musculo-skeletal anatomy to the human form.
The primary objective of The Kane School Mat is to empower instructors by
providing them with skills to facilitate their clients in achieving specific strength
and flexibility goals, while maximizing dynamic alignment and movement potential.
The Mechanics of Respiration, Neutral Pelvis and Posterior Pelvic Tilt, Core and
Scapular Stability, Cervical Nod and Curl are the Core Principles that will be
covered in detail on the first weekend of the Course. The Core Principles are the
underlying muscular recruitment and biomechanical principles that relate to the
Pilates mat repertory.
Exacting both clinical and sensory understandings through lecture, visual and
manual assessment, and cuing will be our primary exploration during the Core
Principles component of the Mat Certification. Mastery of the Core Principles will
give teachers the visual assessment and verbal cuing skills they will need to
instruct each individual client in the most efficient muscle patterns for proper
alignment.
The second weekend of the Comprehensive Pilates Mat Teacher Training
explores how to apply the detail and understanding of the Core Principles to
classic Pilates mat Repertory. Students will be taught how to affectively cue,
manually and verbally, in a group and one-on-one setting. Tools for teaching the
detail presented in the Core Principles in a group setting will also be presented
and students will learn the choreography of the mat sequencing. This workshop
teaches not only Pilates but how to work with the body. The Kane School
Instructor Training Program supports each student's transition into real teachers
who are capable of facilitating transformation!
